Beyond Blue-Cloud

Background

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) was launched by the European Commission to provide a virtual environment with open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data, across borders and disciplines. Within this framework, Blue-Cloud is the thematic EOSC for the marine domain, delivering a collaborative virtual environment that provides access to blue services that will complement EOSC base services.

Background

The Blue-Cloud strategic Roadmap to 2030 is a policy document providing the basis for the future sustainability of the Blue-Cloud, as a leading system in the wider marine community and as a valuable component of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
The Roadmap is fed from European and global players operating in the marine research sector and Blue Economy area. The vision and strategic plan will guide the further development and evolution into its medium and longer-term future.

Establishing long-term collaborations in marine research and open science

Collaboration, cooperation and shared visions are the foundations of every successful synergy. Creating open science platforms to facilitate the use and reuse of oceanic data is a team work activity, and cannot be achieved by one project alone. Blue-Cloud poses special attention to this aspect for creating valuable cooperation among projects operating in the Blue Economy and Marine Research and over the course of the last three years has established strong synergies with initiatives in this area to foster the adoption of its innovative open-science solutions.
